The lyton street project is a remodeled home project designed to comfortably support the clients family of four through sustainable and functional methods. The home remains eco-friendly and thoughtfully assembled per clients requests.

The assignments main objective was to redesign the sites existing structures and transform it into a suitable living space. The clients requests were important factors when designing the home. It must fit the theme of surrounding buildings, remain sustainable, comfortably support a family & their interests with privacy and follow guidelines/regulations. The remodeled home has:

• 3 bedrooms + walk-in wardrobe for master

• extra powder room & ensuite

• study room

• space for gardening

• skylights, solar panels & rainwater collection

• patio

The homes layout is spacious enough for common family activity and thoughtfully designed to accommodate these areas with sustainable solutions. Upon entering, the hallway helps separate high-flow spaces such as the living & kitchen from reaching the more quite bedrooms & bathrooms. This makes noise and lighting better suited to their intended rooms. Similarly, a raised roof and skylight positioned above the living space helps to brighten the area & benefit from the suns path. The living space also connects the patio & garden together amongst the backyard to ensure privacy from surrounding residents.

This first major project has demonstrated the basic processes of designing a building that is sustainable yet purposeful to the client. However, most importantly built a foundation understanding REVIT’s new software.
